The impact of technology on our learning environment is unquestionable. 80% of young adults in Nigeria own at least a smart phone., more than 3 billion people now use the internet globally. The search for information is no more time consuming. As a new institution, initiating virtual learning environment as a part of the learning system in ACHCONSA cannot be over-emphasized. GSUITE as a virtual learning environment (VLE) allows for greater interactivity in daily nursing education, enabling the process of knowledge construction and interaction between students and tutors enriching thus the sharing of ideas and allowing a meaningful and collaborative learning experience for an undergraduate nursing

Conventional classroom based teaching involves the delivery of course lectures by the lecturer in a particular place at a specific time. Hence it imposes a constraint of time and place on both the instructor and the student. Due to the human factor, the lecturer may not always be able to put the optimum effort towards preparing and delivering course models. Direct interaction with the student is not always easy because of the large number of students needing attention.

What is Google's G Suite for Education (GSFE)?

GSFE) is an integrated communication and collaboration solution, hosted by Google and managed by WPS. The platform offers a full suite of productivity tools to help students and teachers/lecturers interact seamlessly and securely across devices. GSFE provides the ability for students, faculty and staff to communicate and collaborate, store files, explore, learn and create in real time from school, work, or home, all within a secure online environment.

How we use it

GSFE provides a full suite of education tools. It provides the ability for students and Lecturers to store files (audio, video, etc.) and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time from school or home within a “closed campus” online environment. Google Classroom streamlines assignments, boosts collaboration, and fosters seamless communication to help make teaching more productive and provide efficiencies to the students and Lecturers.

What can Students/Lecturers do with GSFE?

Students will have easy access to their documents, spreadsheets, and presentations within Google Docs/Drive. They will be able to work and collaborate together in Google Classroom. Students will also have access to a wide range of approved educational apps and extensions from the Google Chrome Store to use on their devices.

THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Google Apps for Education provides students and teachers with a central place to create, store, organize and provide feedback for classroom assignments. With this, Google hopes to make classrooms everywhere paperless, more efficient, and more effective.

The service combines Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides along with Gmail and Google Calendar to allow Lecturers to provide lessons for students through a virtual learning management system.

Google classroom is the core application of GSuite for Education. it has a clean, simple layout, and an intuitive user interface, big buttons and a built-in tutorial that direct Lecturers to create new classes, assign new homework, and communicate with students through comments and an activity stream. becomes easy.
